Family Portrait Session – Richmond, VA

We photographed this beautiful family session on what might have gone down as the Windiest Day Ever in the history books for RVA. This actually ended up working out perfectly because I absolutely LOVED the movement the wind gave their hair, and we got some amazing laughs when a big gust of wind practically blew us across the courtyard. As a family photographer, it is my job to find out what you want out of each session. It was super important to Casey and Laura that we photographed their son’s adorable toothless smile to capture this milestone in his life. Clyde’s silly, mischievous personality led the way for plenty of laughs and grins and we were able to capture so many moments of fun, but also so many moments of tenderness and the strong bond he shares with his parents, whom he so obviously adores. Unicorn Mommy & Me Session – Doswell, VA

One of the most rewarding things about my job is the ability to capture the tiny little moments that, when pieced all together, tell these beautiful stories of the connections and bonds between souls.  That is one of the reasons I absolutely love photographing mommy & me sessions.  As mothers, we spend so much time pulling out our phones and photographing everyone else as they are creating family memories that will shape their childhood and even entire adult life.  We are rarely IN any of these photographs (and I don’t mean those obligatory selfies!).  I always encourage mothers to participate and be present in the photographs.  Years from now, this little girl will be a young woman and she will always have these amazing images of her and her mother that she will treasure and be so incredibly special to her.  She will remember how her mother brought her to a farm in Virginia (all the way from PA!) and she got to meet a real unicorn.  She will remember how they laughed and danced and had skipping races through the fields.  Looking back on these images, she will remember how her mother used to hold her and gently caress her hair, how she smiled and her eyes sparkled whenever she looked at her.  She will remember how she she felt so safe, happy, and loved.  It was an absolute pleasure photographing these two remarkable ladies and I am so thankful have played a little part in their memories decades from now.

Underwater Pool Portrait Session – Mechanicsville, VA

I met this little girl last year when she came to my annual Christmas + Santa sessions.  It’s always so much fun to see how much my little clients have grown each time I see them.  I just love so much being able to document these fun memories over the years for families.  All of the small details are just as important to capture as their larger than life smiles, from their pouty lips down to their chubby little fingers and toes.  These are the moments you will want to remember, and make up such a big part of the memories that make life so sweet.   When her mama came into the studio to see all of her images, we laughed at her daughter’s many, MANY expressions, and I am so excited to begin designing her wall space with these fun photographs of her adorable little girl over the years!

Couple’s Session – Yorktown, VA

I can’t believe I have lived in Virginia my entire life and have never been to Yorktown before (that I can remember, any way)!  I had the best time exploring the area with Ariana and Chase.  They were up for anything, so we chased the light and ended up getting some really beautiful photographs for them.  I already can’t wait to go back and shoot!  Here is a little peek at their couple’s session.

Unicorn + Family Session – Doswell, VA

It’s no secret that the weather in Virginia lately has been a bit of a wet blanket lately (haha… see what I did there?), especially for photographers trying to get in all of their spring and early summer sessions!  We lucked out with some dry weather and a happy toddler to create some sweet memories of this adorable family.  I had such a fun time with them and their beautiful little girl!  We got some of the cutest little expressions from her.  Here is a little peek at their super cute family and unicorn session!

Portrait Session – Doswell, VA

Jenna contacted me last year to book a family session with her best friend Tenney to document their bond after some trying times.  She loves cherry blossoms, so we scheduled her during their peak bloom on our farm in Doswell, VA.  The weather was beautiful, Tenney was full of energy, and we had the best time giggling at his many expressions and antics.  Jenna’s metal grouping turned out absolutely breathtaking.  The reclaimed barn wood frames that we selected to compliment her chosen images were stunning too.  One of my favorite pieces to date so far!  You can see a quick cell pic I posted to my Facebook page from when I received her order.  I couldn’t resist because it was just so perfect!  Here is a quick peek at a few highlights from their family portrait session.

Mommy + Me Session – Doswell, VA

I had a few absolutely amazing sessions while our cherry blossom was in full bloom and we had some gorgeous weather to go along with it, thankfully!  I had so much fun chasing the light with this session, and this sweet little girl just adored the “princess dresses” she got to borrow from my client closet!  I created a little video to go along with this session also (viewable here).  Try not to smile or tear up thinking about your own children and how fast they grow!  It’s impossible!

Sierra’s golden hour senior session was nothing short of magical.  The spot we decided to shoot is one of my favorites because of the way the light filters through the trees and lights up the frame with yummy, warm sunshine-y goodness!  Check out this little preview of her portrait session!

Teen Session – Doswell, VA

I had the pleasure of photographing Ashby’s sister’s over the summer (view their amazing ballerina unicorn session here), and I was over the moon to be asked to photograph Ashby in his element.  This country-inspired session was photographed on my farm in Doswell (just north of Richmond, VA), and we were able to bring to life Ashby’s current interests, personality, mannerisms– everything a mama would want to remember years from now.  I LOVE the way these turned out and we had some absolutely beautiful light to end the session with!
