Family Portrait Session – Richmond, VA

We photographed this beautiful family session on what might have gone down as the Windiest Day Ever in the history books for RVA. This actually ended up working out perfectly because I absolutely LOVED the movement the wind gave their hair, and we got some amazing laughs when a big gust of wind practically blew us across the courtyard. As a family photographer, it is my job to find out what you want out of each session. It was super important to Casey and Laura that we photographed their son’s adorable toothless smile to capture this milestone in his life. Clyde’s silly, mischievous personality led the way for plenty of laughs and grins and we were able to capture so many moments of fun, but also so many moments of tenderness and the strong bond he shares with his parents, whom he so obviously adores. Fall Family Session – Doswell, VA

I had such a blast getting to know the Eachos while photographing them for their fall family session!  The fall weather and foliage photographed so perfectly and I even got to see some pretty sweet karate moves from this adorable little boy at the end of their session!

I always love working with laid back families that aren’t afraid to embrace life for what it is…. sometimes it’s a little messy and sometimes it’s a little crazy, but it’s always full of these sweet little moments worth capturing if you’re keeping your eyes open for them.  ❤

Family Session – Doswell, VA

I had the pleasure of photographing Paige and her sweet family over the summer after a family member gifted her a session with me!  I felt so honored when Paige told me that she saw my work at a local children’s shop (shout out to Mom2Mom Resale Boutique in Sandston!) and she just knew she wanted me to be the one to photograph her family.  We finally got to meet up and I had so much fun running through the pastures on the farm and playing with her adorable boys!  This stage of motherhood is my absolute favorite and I can’t help but bring my own emotions into a shoot like this.  I photograph all the things I would want to remember; the good, the naughty, the silly, and especially the quiet, tender moments.  I am so honored that they chose me to document this chapter for them to hold onto forever.  Here are some highlights from their family portrait session.

Couple’s Session

Adventure sessions have become a fast favorite for me!  I am always down to go adventuring and exploring for sessions.  Not only because I love finding new places to shoot, but because it’s something new and fun for your family to experience together!  I get to capture genuine moments and a family memory that will last forever, which is so important to me.  When Nancy and Mike said they were down to explore, I was super excited and sending over all kinds of cool locations I’ve wanted to check out.  We hiked to this beautiful waterfall for their couple’s session recently and the images did not disappoint!  Here are some of the highlights!

Family Session – Richmond, VA

I have worked with this super sweet family for a few sessions now, and I was so happy that they booked another family session over the fall!  I always enjoy reconnecting with past clients and seeing how much their kids have grown.  It was such a beautiful day in the city and that red dress was the absolute PERFECT choice to contrast against all the greenery around.  It gave the perfect little pop of color for this set.  Their canvas grouping turned out absolutely beautiful and is such a fun added piece for the kids’ playroom!  Here is a quick peek from their family session in Richmond!

Unicorn Mommy & Me Session – Doswell, VA

One of the most rewarding things about my job is the ability to capture the tiny little moments that, when pieced all together, tell these beautiful stories of the connections and bonds between souls.  That is one of the reasons I absolutely love photographing mommy & me sessions.  As mothers, we spend so much time pulling out our phones and photographing everyone else as they are creating family memories that will shape their childhood and even entire adult life.  We are rarely IN any of these photographs (and I don’t mean those obligatory selfies!).  I always encourage mothers to participate and be present in the photographs.  Years from now, this little girl will be a young woman and she will always have these amazing images of her and her mother that she will treasure and be so incredibly special to her.  She will remember how her mother brought her to a farm in Virginia (all the way from PA!) and she got to meet a real unicorn.  She will remember how they laughed and danced and had skipping races through the fields.  Looking back on these images, she will remember how her mother used to hold her and gently caress her hair, how she smiled and her eyes sparkled whenever she looked at her.  She will remember how she she felt so safe, happy, and loved.  It was an absolute pleasure photographing these two remarkable ladies and I am so thankful have played a little part in their memories decades from now.

Unicorn Session – Doswell, VA

I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable little girl recently.  She is as sweet as can be and was shy in the beginning, which is very understandable for a kid meeting a new person!  I was very shy as a kid, so I feel like I know how to relate and can draw out their personalities… in their own time, of course.   Once they see me jumping all over and rolling on the ground like a ninja, me and my big camera just aren’t so scary anymore 😉  We had such a fun time playing together and creating these beautiful images.  Watching her dance around like no one was watching and without a care in the world made my heart so happy!  We should all live like this.

Senior Session – Doswell, VA

You guys.  This senior session!  Ahh!  When I was asked to photograph Melinda’s senior portraits, I was so excited!  I photographed her quinceañera years ago and was honored to be chosen again to photograph another special time in her life.  I absolutely love that she decided to add the unicorn to her senior session!  It’s definitely adds a unique touch to her session 😉  She also asked to incorporate her sweet pups, as they’ve played a big part in her life and growing up.  Here are some highlights from her session!

Family Session at the River – Gwynns Island, VA

I have the honor of photographing this gorgeous family a couple times a year so they can update their wall portraits and preserve the memories of their children growing up.  When we were thinking about what we wanted to do for this particular session, I suggested we go to their family’s river house where they spend a lot of time swimming, crabbing, and making memories every summer.  I am so glad we did because I had the BEST time photographing these sweet kids playing in a place that is super special to them.   It makes me so happy that they will have these fun and authentic photographs to look back on when they are older and reminiscing about their childhood.

Underwater Pool Portrait Session – Mechanicsville, VA

I met this little girl last year when she came to my annual Christmas + Santa sessions.  It’s always so much fun to see how much my little clients have grown each time I see them.  I just love so much being able to document these fun memories over the years for families.  All of the small details are just as important to capture as their larger than life smiles, from their pouty lips down to their chubby little fingers and toes.  These are the moments you will want to remember, and make up such a big part of the memories that make life so sweet.   When her mama came into the studio to see all of her images, we laughed at her daughter’s many, MANY expressions, and I am so excited to begin designing her wall space with these fun photographs of her adorable little girl over the years!
