I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable little girl recently. She is as sweet as can be and was shy in the beginning, which is very understandable for a kid meeting a new person! I was very shy as a kid, so I feel like I know how to relate and can draw out their personalities… in their own time, of course. Once they see me jumping all over and rolling on the ground like a ninja, me and my big camera just aren’t so scary anymore 😉 We had such a fun time playing together and creating these beautiful images. Watching her dance around like no one was watching and without a care in the world made my heart so happy! We should all live like this.

Sibling Session – Doswell, VA

I don’t usually shoot at high noon, but the other afternoon my kids were driving me a little batty. We decided to have an “adventure” and I brought out my camera to play a little myself. We set up a little play tent in the pasture and giggled, skipped, and rolled around in the dirt (yes, me too… ever seen me shoot? Haha).

I hope that when my kids reminisce about their childhood, they remember magic, laughter, wonder, and the love in these little moments. They’re growing up so, so fast.

Mommy & Me Session with Unicorn – Doswell, VA

Renee contacted me because her daughter was turning 3 and having a “Rainbows & Unicorns” birthday party, which of course, is my all time favorite theme! She selected the rose gold sequined top dress with full tulle skirt from my Client Closet for her Devyn to wear. I had such a blast playing with and photographing Devyn, as she has this amazingly sweet and larger than life personality. I am so happy to be able to capture these memories for them to have forever. The candid and playful shots were just as fun! I just adore photographing children at this age. They usually make me work for it, but we have such a good time! Devyn got to change into her adorable birthday outfit at the end, and the matching brag books will certainly be a special keepsake for her to have as she grows up!

I love, love working with this sweet little family of three (soon to be four)! They are seriously the cutest ever. Kelly and I have been planning out this unicorn session for quite some time now, and it honestly could not have come together any more perfectly. I just adore all the emotions captured in this gallery. And how about the adorable expressions their little girl gave us when she set her big blue eyes on Poppy the unicorn! THIS is what every childhood should be filled with! Love and a little bit of magic ❤

Family Portrait Session – Doswell, VA

This session was so perfectly imperfect. If I have learned anything over the years as a family photographer, I’ve learned that toddlers can be SO unpredictable. That being said, I am always prepared with some tricks up my sleeve to get their cooperation for at least a few frames.

I do love capturing the realness of what life is like at that moment in your life, so when your toddler has a meltdown, we roll with it and turn it into fun. I want each experience they have with me to be positive and I want them to have a great time making memories. After all, that’s what this is all about 🙂

Lifestyle photos – Vacation in Rodanthe, NC

I’ve been gearing up for the busy fall season and trying to put together my annual mini session event, and it’s making me already miss summer! And it’s barely September! So today’s blog post is a throw back to our beach vacation earlier this summer in Rodanthe. I always want to remember all the little mundane details that make up our lives, so I hauled my camera with us to the pizzeria down the street and made sure to capture all the little details and mannerisms of my little humans. Little wrist rolls, long eye lashes, the way she holds her cups, the way he curiously studies everything… I’ll remember 🙂
