Amanda and Wes had a beautiful, intimate wedding at a picturesque farm named Bandit’s Ridge in Louisa, Virginia. It was a perfect day, with sweet little details that held true to their laid back and country style. Both families felt the void of family members that had passed before their time, and the tears of both grief and happiness flowed freely from everyone’s eyes. They say butterflies signify those that have passed on… and wouldn’t you know, a black and blue butterfly visited us during the family formals and first landed on Amanda, then Wes’ beard, and even tried to stay with him for the evening by flying up his sleeve. It was amazing. I had a great time photographing this wedding with all the love and emotion in the air and now am so happy to be able to share a few of the highlights with you!

I shot Joe & Liz’s engagement photos last summer and was thrilled when they asked me to photograph their big day. The time finally arrived for their wedding, and it was a gorgeous event…. fun but elegant, and at a unique venue, The First Lady of Suffolk, in Suffolk, Virginia.
We eyed the weather all afternoon and crossed our fingers, and although it poured during the ceremony (which was in a church, thankfully), it stopped raining just in time for everyone to enjoy the outdoor seating areas at the reception venue, and we were able to get some portraits of the bridal party outdoors as well.
It was a beautiful day and I’m so happy for the newlyweds! I hope you guys enjoy this small peek at their big day.

With summer in full swing, it’s a great opportunity to get your family portraits updated! If you’re going on vacation this year, it really is the perfect to get some updated images of your brood all together. I travel all over and would love to capture some beautiful pictures of your family on the beach, in the mountains, wherever you may be! I love working in new locations and my sessions are fully planned out in advance so everyone knows what to wear, what we’ll be doing, what types of images we are shooting for, etc. That way no one is left feeling uncertain about the session.
If you’d like to schedule your summer portrait session, please e-mail me using the contact form on this website (anikacolombo@gmail.com) and we will plan out an amazing session that fits your family’s style and personalities perfectly!
Newsome wedding – Ashland, VA
While I’m catching up on blog posts… Sherri and Dennis’ got married over the summer at the Hanover Country Club in Ashland, VA. This sweet couple had a special request before the ceremony– they wanted to pray together but not see each other. We scouted around and found a wall where they could stand so Dennis could not see any part of her dress. Their first look as she came down the aisle was worth it, as they were both beaming ear to ear. Here are some highlights from their special day!

This fall has been such a crazy season for me and I am so thankful to all of my clients for keeping me busy! I’ve loved every second of every session and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all of my … Continue reading
Jocelyn + Robert’s farm wedding │ Beaverdam, VA
Jocelyn and Robert came to me through a referral and I was so excited to do their engagement photos and also photograph their wedding. They’re a fun couple, and the first time I met them, they told me they were … Continue reading
I have been super anxious to tell everyone but had to wait until they made the official announcement… but the photo session I did the other day of my brother was actually a PROPOSAL! He had me ask them to model for me so I could “try out some new gear”. He was so worried about her catching on, so he tried to throw her off a few times during the session. I was trying so hard not to laugh.
I brought little chalkboards to try to keep it fun, interesting, and candid. These were their portraits of each other. LOL.

Then he suggested writing something sweet to try to throw her off his scent. He was very convincing. She said later she thought that might be it.
And then… while we were shooting in the woods, my husband secretly set up an easel with a super cute frame my brother made with sweet momentos… the napkin and check from their first date, a photo of them together, and a heartfelt message.
It took several minutes to try to lead her over to the area where it was setup, which is a hilarious story in itself. Anyways, here is the proposal!
She said no! Just kidding, she said yes and I am so psyched for them! We are all so excited to welcome her to the family and I am so, so honored that they allowed me to be there to photograph this special moment.
I’ve been keeping busy adjusting to our new life as a family of four. It’s been rough and I’ve felt a little crazy some days, but it’s awesome. Every day is something new. I’ve got lots of fun stuff coming up on the photography front. My summer calendar has been booking up steadily with weddings, family sessions, and random events. I am trying to find a good time to run a couple of mini-sessions before it gets too miserable outside. Just waiting on a few things before I announce any more details.
Here are just a couple photos I’ve taken in the last couple of days.
