Reeves family pictures

I was bored last week and knew the weather was going to be nice, so I offered a cheap mini-shoot to the first couple people to message me on my Facebook page (which I do every so often, so go become a fan!). Carey posted almost immediately that she wanted in, so I had her family out a few nights ago. They are a wild bunch! They brought along their two kids as well as their 3 boxers and it was a fun chaos.

The kids and I (of course, being as mature as I am) giggled pretty much the whole time as we tried to get the dogs to cooperate. It was funny. There was just so much new stuff for them to look at. Horses, cows, cat, horse poop!

They were so cute and the kids were so sweet too. The weather was really nice and although we didn’t get the sunset until it was almost dark (phooey), it was still a great evening for a quick little photo shoot. Photographing pets can be a little tricky since they move so fast, especially if they’re in a new setting, but I love a challenge and I love meeting people’s pets 🙂

Here’s a few more photos from their shoot.  Enjoy!

Baby Trent’s First Year @ 3 Months!

Some of you may remember this cute little newborn from a few months ago…

IMG_5646-1

Yep, that’s the one! Well, he is 3 months old now and his parents (who are so super sweet, by the way) decided to get the Baby’s First Year package I offer to document this little guy’s growth. (Trent is about 2 months younger than Kellan but he made me realize what a TANK my guy is. Holy moly. I better get some ripped arms to show carrying him around all the time). Trent’s parents, Kiera and Bryant were also celebrating their tenth anniversary! They told me they’d never had family photos done so they figured this was a good of a time as any! I know I’ve always love looking back on old family photos so I love being able to offer this to people so their little ones can look back someday too.

I say this, and yet I hardly have any pictures of my own, new little fam. I seriously hate having my picture taken, but I guess it’s time to suck it up and dig out my tripod. Sigh.

Anyway, for your viewing pleasure, here are just a few of the… ahem… 230 pictures I’m handing off to Kiera & Bryant. I am a nutcase, I realize this.

And of course, Stupid Sexy Flanders (our kitty) couldn’t stand to not be included in the photo shoot.  He always manages at least one photo bomb.

Richmond Wildlife Center

Well today’s subject was fun!  The baby was up until midnight last night, up twice in the middle of the night and my alarm was set for 8:20 this morning.  I rolled out of bed and scurried around trying to get us all ready to leave to head across town to the Richmond Wildlife Center to take some photos of their animals available for adoption.

I was admittedly a little nervous when I saw the cramped quarters and dim lighting.  Small, dimly lit areas and fast-moving subjects aren’t exactly a photographer’s dream… especially when you prefer shooting in natural light.  I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised at how well the photos turned out!  Feeling quite proud of myself, at the moment  😉

Anywho, here are a couple of the animals I met today.  There are a few rabbits, a pigeon, some ducks, and a tortoise available for adoption.  The possums and little wild rabbit pictured are just for fun 🙂  You can visit the Richmond Wildlife Center’s website at www.richmondwildlife.org or contact them at 804-378-2000 if you’re interested in adopting!

Quincy

My photo today is of my darling Quarter Horse mare, Quincy.  We purchased her in 2004 as a young greenie and she is now at the ripe old age of 17!  I can’t believe so much time has passed already.  She was a bit of a spitfire when we got her… has bucked me off more times than I can remember.  We’ve both grown a bit and she’s definitely come around and become such an amazing horse.  She’s become sort of the unofficial mascot as everyone that comes to the house to have photos done falls in love with her.  She has the sweetest personality and is so eager to please.  Unless you ask her to jump a fence.  Then you are on your own.  Probably on the opposite side of the jump.  On your back.

Anyway, she has found her forever home and will be toting around little man once he’s a bit older.  I can’t wait to ride with him and I hope he enjoys it as much as I do.

Four months!

My little side kick is FOUR MONTHS OLD as of last Friday! I cannot believe how big he’s gotten. It is just crazy to me how fast time is flying. He goes for his 4 month check-up next week to get some shots… he won’t be very pleasant then so I figured I ought to get some pictures now. I need to get a good picture of him doing his big, gummy grin. It’s a bit harder than one would imagine to make a baby smile and take his picture when you’re all by yourself! As soon as the camera comes out, his face is deadpan. Every single time. A little creative thinking, some high pitched squealing, and this was the best smile I got out of him. Little stinker.

Oh yeah, then he spit up on his rug and made a “present” for me in his diaper. I know, I know, my life is so glamorous. 😉

Rainy Day.

It’s pretty gross outside, so I’ve spent a good chunk of my day on my computer trying to get at least some work done this weekend, despite how tired I am!  Little man is teething and no one in this house is sleeping well… not even the dogs.  SO.  Today’s picture is an older one because my internet connection is crappy today and not letting me upload a new one.  Grrr… the downside of country living.  So yeah, today’s pic is of our pasture on a pretty day and will hopefully make you a little more cheery during this gloomy weather!

Anyways, my availability for September is booking up pretty quick and I have a few photo shoots pending, so if you’re thinking about having some fall photos done, get with me soon if you want a good time slot 🙂  I’m thinking about heading up to Yorktown Beach to do some photos for Kellan in the next few weeks while the weather is nice, if anyone would like to join me!  I hear it’s beautiful and quiet.. not too crowded.  I have some super cute ideas in mind for him.  If you’re interested, let me know and we can try to work out a date to head up there!

Psssssst, if you haven’t already, go become a fan on my FB page.  I’m always offering discounts and last minute photo sessions there!  Right now I’m offering $25 off your photo session for the month of August.  Save some dough.

Aha! Finally!

Aha! Finally!

Finally got a website up and semi-functional! Lots of tweaks coming, but this will suffice for now. Time for me to go spend the rest of my Saturday snugglin’ with this little man. 😉
